‘An incredible honour, as well as an amazing acknowledgement of our investments and developments, the team’s hard work and commitment and our Holistic Ayurveda concept,’ says proprietor and Holistic Ayurveda mastermind Christina Mauracher. ‘We would like to thank our team for joining us on this new path for health tourism and, of course, our guests whose all-important votes have confirmed that we’re on the right track.’

The award ceremony, which took place during a second lockdown for many countries affected by the pandemic lit a beacon of hope for the future: ‘We do believe that in 2021 we will see the growth of the tourism and hospitality industry and we so look forward to being with you on that journey,’ said WLA Marketing Director Michael Hunter-Smith in his opening speech at the official award ceremony. Early seedlings are already emerging, and the Ayurveda Resort Mandira is also looking forward to the first blooms in the green heart of Austria.

World Luxury Hotel, Spa & Restaurants Awards

The World Luxury Awards 2020 were presented on 9 November 2020 via video message, since the gala planned to be held in Mauritius had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. More than 2,000 hotels from 150 countries were nominated in over 90 categories. In 2020, more than 700,000 votes were cast online over a period of four weeks. The awards are given on a national, cross-national, continental and global level and on the basis of several factors. World Luxury Awards marketing director Michael Hunter-Smith explains that it’s brand, location and, above all, guest satisfaction that play major roles in making the selections. A well thought-out concept and high quality implementation are to the fore. The selection of winners includes votes by guests, international travel specialists and specialists and big players in the tourism industry.

The World Luxury Awards were established in 2006. During 15 years in the top hotel and restaurant industry, an elaborate assessment process has been finessed to illustrate and distinguish excellence in infrastructure, as well as the concept and product behind it and the quality of the implementation with a special focus on service. With the changing demands and needs of both guests and industry, the ratings was also adapted and expanded. The Luxury Award Trophies are now given to spas (since 2010) and to restaurants (since 2015) as well as hotels.
