The three doshas

Vata. Pitta. Kapha.
Three energies,
one balance.

Ayurveda describes life as the interplay of three basic forces - the doshas. They control everything you are and feel: metabolism, energy, sleep, emotions and thoughts. Everyone has all three doshas within them - but to varying degrees. Your personal dosha profile explains why you function the way you do - physically, emotionally and mentally.

Vata Typ
Vata - Movement & Creativity

Vata stands for the principle of air and ether. It moves, invigorates and inspires. People with a strong Vata component are creative, open, spontaneous and sensitive. If Vata is imbalanced, this can lead to sleep problems, nervousness or inner restlessness.

What strengthens Vata:
Warmth, regularity, grounding - warm meals, rituals, massages with sesame oil.

Pitta
Pitta - Energy & Clarity

Pitta is the power of fire and water. It transforms, digests and brings structure to everyday life. Pitta types are determined, ambitious and focused. Too much pitta manifests as irritability, hot flushes or inflammation.

What balances pitta:
Coolness, lightness, relaxation - gentle exercise, fresh food, mental breaks.

Kapha Typ
Kapha - stability & calmness

Kapha is the principle of earth and water - it provides stability, constancy and calmness. Kapha people are reliable, empathic and powerful, but need movement to avoid stagnation. An excess of Kapha leads to sluggishness, weight gain and listlessness.

What brings Kapha into balance:
Movement, lightness, variety - warming foods, stimulating scents, rhythmic activity.
